Spending Two Days at Dollywood Last Month and a Week in Tennessee Before Dolly’s Passing

Last month, I had the chance to spend two unforgettable days at Dollywood, nestled in the heart of Tennessee. It was part of a week-long trip I took just before the passing of Dolly Parton, one of my all-time favorite musicians. It’s been a month without Dolly now, and her absence feels deeply personal to so many of us.

On September 25th, which is celebrated as Dolly Day (9 to 5) I found myself reflecting on her incredible legacy, especially her Imagination Library, which brings the love of reading to children everywhere.

My Time at Dollywood: More Than Just a Theme Park

Dollywood isn't your average theme park. It's a spot where music, culture, and fun blend together in a super friendly and inviting way. This is our second year visiting Dollywood, and we absolutely love it there.

On our first day in Tennessee, we hung out in Gatlinburg, strolling around, shopping, and taking in the sights.

The second day was all about a fun family float trip, which is our yearly tradition before summer ends and fall kicks in.

Personal Experience at Dollywood

While I’m not a fan of the big rides, I do enjoy a few medium ones, with Fire Chaser Express being one of my favorites. My husband and kids, on the other hand, are more adventurous and took on several thrilling attractions. The atmosphere of Dollywood, filled with lively music and vibrant energy, adds to the enjoyment of our family outings.

Why We Love Dollywood

The charm of Dollywood goes beyond the rides; it's the overall experience that captivates us. The beautiful surroundings and the celebration of Appalachian culture create a unique ambiance that makes every visit special. Whether I’m watching my family ride or simply soaking in the music and atmosphere, Dollywood has a way of bringing us all together for unforgettable moments.

Remembering Dolly One Month Later

It’s hard to believe it’s been a month since Dolly passed away. i'm still mourning.

The world feels a little quieter without her laughter and music. But her legacy lives on in so many ways. September 25th, Dolly Day, is a special reminder of her impact. It’s a day to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to millions.

On Dolly Day, I took some time to dive back into reading, inspired by the Imagination Library’s mission. It reminded me how powerful stories can be. They connect us, teach us, and help us dream. Dolly’s love for books and storytelling is something I want to carry forward.

How the Imagination Library Inspires Us All

The Imagination Library is one of Dolly’s most beautiful gifts. It sends free books to children from birth until they start school. This simple idea has helped millions of kids develop a love for reading. It’s a reminder that literacy is a foundation for a better future.

Dolly's Imagination Library

Dolly's Imagination Library is a fantastic program that gets kids pumped about reading! Launched by the iconic Dolly Parton in 1995, it sends free books to kids from birth until they turn five, making sure they have a steady stream of exciting stories to enjoy.

What really makes this program shine is the joy it brings to families. With new books arriving every month, kids get to explore different stories and themes, fostering a love for reading that lasts a lifetime. Plus, it’s completely free, so everyone gets to join in on the fun without breaking the bank!

If you want to get involved or support the program, you can learn more about it here. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or just someone who loves books, the Imagination Library is a wonderful way to make a difference.

My Experience with My Kids

As a parent, I've seen firsthand the magic that Dolly's Imagination Library brings to my children. Each month, when the new books arrive, my kids were filled with excitement. They would run to the mailbox, their faces lighting up when they spot the familiar package. The anticipation of discovering new stories was a delightful ritual in our home.

Bringing the Spirit of Dollywood and Dolly into Your Life

If you’re looking for a way to fall in love with reading again, picking up a fantasy series like the Zelina Trilogy can be a great start. It’s exciting, immersive, and full of characters you’ll want to cheer for. Plus, it’s a reminder that stories can take us anywhere, just like Dolly’s music did.

Final Thoughts on a Trip Filled with Memories and Inspiration

Spending those two days at Dollywood and a week in Tennessee was more than just a vacation. It was a journey through the heart of a place and a person who have inspired so many. Dolly Parton’s passing has left a hole, but her music, her kindness, and her love for reading continue to light the way.

If you ever get the chance to visit Dollywood, take it. And if you want to honor Dolly’s legacy, consider supporting the Imagination Library or diving into a great book series that sparks your imagination. Stories have a way of healing and connecting us, and Dolly knew that better than anyone.

Thanks for reading about my trip and reflections. I hope it inspires you to explore, read, and celebrate the magic in everyday moments. Keep dreaming and keep reading!
